Brockenhurst Climate Action Group Working Party
Brockenhurst Parish Council has established a Climate Action Group (CAG) as a working party, consisting of a subset of Parish Councillors.
Mission & Main Aims:
- Take practical actions in the local area to raise awareness.
- Enhance the local environment.
- Strive for carbon neutrality.
Collaboration & Community Involvement:
To achieve these aims, the CAG encourages and supports individuals, voluntary organizations, and local groups, including:
Additionally, CAG will work with Forestry England, local landowners, and the New Forest National Park Authority.
Working Groups & Advocacy:
- The CAG will establish and support working groups focusing on specific environmental topics.
- It will also serve as a conduit for raising local environmental issues at district and county levels.
Update November 2022
The Brockenhurst Parish Council has pledged its support for the Plastic Free Brockenhurst initiative, which is part of Greener Brockenhurst.
During a recent presentation by two members of Plastic Free Brockenhurst, key issues regarding single-use plastics and their impact on climate change were highlighted. The group is part of the Plastic Free Communities campaign, which provides a structured framework to help communities reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.
Following the presentation, the Parish Council unanimously agreed to:
✅ Remove single-use plastic items from the Parish Council office.
✅ Encourage and support plastic-free initiatives and events.
✅ Appoint a council representative to join the community steering group once it is formed.
Cllr Paul Pearse has been appointed as the Parish Council representative for this initiative.
