Citizen of Brockenhurst Award
Brockenhurst Parish Council are pleased to announce our second year of running the Citizen of Brockenhurst Awards.
To submit a nomination, please complete the nomination form (PDF, 135KB) and ensure it is submitted by 14th March 2025.
Congratulations to the winners from our 2024 Awards:
Entries were judged by Kevin Plummer, Chair of Brockenhurst Village Trust, local vicar Simon Newham and Pete Wales, Chair of Brockenhurst Parish Council.
“The range of nominations was inspiring, seeing so many people use both hands to help other people, putting themselves out to provide a service, or better place to live,” said Pete Wales.
The three local people who received awards are:
Mr Ashley Pritchard - Contribution to Brockenhurst Life
Ashley has spent many hours promoting bridge in the Village Hall. He has selflessly given lessons and encouraged complete beginners to provide what is now a thriving bridge club with kindness at its core. He has been tireless in providing a friendly community club which has become a lifeline to many. In addition to establishing a casual bridge session on a Thursday there are also more competitive bridge sessions available on a Monday evening. Ashley has other voluntary roles within the Care Car community.
Mrs Sue Griffiths - Brockenhurst Neighbour or Friend of the Year
Sue is a very dependable volunteer who remains in the background rather than seeking the limelight. A stalwart of the community be it with regular help at Wednesday lunches, the Friday club or visiting people under the auspices of Brockcare. Many times Sue can be seen surreptitiously looking after the community telephone kiosks at Butts Lawn ensuring that it is clean tidy with information for residents and visitors alike.
Mr Ollie Weddell - Young Person of Brockenhurst
Ollie raised awareness of the Children's Air Ambulance. He worked with Brockenhurst CE Primary and Pre-School to run a non-uniform day. All his efforts raised over £275.
Prizes, were presented at the Brockenhurst Parish Council Annual Parish meeting. Pete Wales confirmed that he was delighted with the number of entries and was happy to thank not only the winners but also recognise the tireless efforts many residents make to the community and hope this will inspire others.
